Movies: more cliche than ever, Hollywood is just fresh out of ideas

I recently saw Tower Heist in the theatre and was surprised at how entertaining it was. It was funny, but it was almost like an "Ocean's 6".

The purpose of this post is to get you thinking about the originality/uniqueness of movies today.
Whenever I go to the movies I can't help thinking that many of the "new" movies are so unoriginal and boring. The movie previews today practically only show vampires and werewolves and maybe some photoshopped guys shooting at one another in a car chasing scene.

I may upset someone by saying Avatar was unoriginal, but I'll take my chances. It was Pocahontas with blue Indians and the special effects were...well...special, and yes, the effects were a first of there kind. But, it wasn't a unique story line ( Letters to Juliet and Nights in Rodanthe are much worse though). And now EVERYTHING (almost) is in 3D. I could go on and on, but I don't have the time for it.

What do YOU think? You must have an opinion.
